Box Score HAYS, Kan.—The Pittsburg State University volleyball team defeated the Fort Hays State University Tigers on Friday afternoon. The Gorillas won with set scores of 30-28, 25-23, 16-25 and 25-14.

With the win, the Gorillas improve to 14-14 overall and 9-10 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings.

The first set saw the Tigers jump out to an early lead behind a four-point run, however, the two teams battled back and forth with the score being tied at every point from 15 onward. Finally with the help of a kill by Morgan Henning and a Tiger attack error, the Gorillas won the first set 30-28.

The Gorillas and Tigers battled early but the Gorillas pulled away and took a four-point lead, 15-11 midway through the set. The Tigers attempted to make it a match late but a Meg Auten kill helped Pitt State get a 25-23 set two win and a 2-0 lead.

The third set saw the Tigers come out on fire as they took a 14-7 lead forcing the hand of Pitt State head coach Jen Gomez. Despite the timeout the Gorillas fell in the set 25-16. The fourth set saw Pitt State jump into the driver's seat and take the win 25-14.

Auten had a strong hand as she tallied 22 of the team's 58 kills. Erika Ivkov had two of Pitt State's three aces.

The Gorillas will close out the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 16) when they take on the No. 2 ranked University of Nebraska Kearney Lopers at 6 p.m.
