PITTSBURG -- Drew Roelfs scored a game-high 20 points to lead seven Pittsburg State University men's basketball players in double figures as the Gorillas defeated Baptist Bible College, 110-57, in their home opener Saturday (Nov. 23) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Roelfs converted six of 10 3-point field goal attempts to finish with a career high 20 points. Overall, Pitt State (2-1) made 15 long range shots in the contest. Xavier Womack also enjoyed an impressive debut for the Gorillas after missing the first two games of the season. He posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Womack also contributed three assists, three blocked shots and three steals in the game.
Grant Harding added 17 points for Pitt State, while Ray Elliott (12), Antonio Givens II (12), R.J. Lawrence (11) and Jah-Kobe Womack (11) also scored in double figures. Givens added eight rebounds, including six of Pitt State's 18 offensive boards. Kah-Kobe Womack dished out a team-leading five assists.
Pitt State shot 49.3 percent from the field in the game, making 37 of 75 shots. The Gorillas also converted 21 of 25 free throw attempts.
Pitt State will return to action Friday (Nov. 29) when the Gorillas host Hastings College at 3 p.m. (CST).
