Gorillas Fall to OCU, 6-5, in Extra Innings

EDMOND, Okla. — The Oklahoma Christian University baseball team plated a run in the bottom of the 11th inning for a walk-off 6-5 victory over Pittsburg State University in the season opener for both squads Friday (Feb. 1).

The Gorillas (0-1) rallied from a 4-0 first inning deficit to take a 5-4 lead thanks to a four-run sixth inning. The Eagles (1-0) forced extra innings with a run in the bottom of the ninth.

Connor Lungwitz (0-1) took the loss for Pitt State, allowing two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief work. Starter Brad Kinsey was charged with four runs, three earned, in 4.0 innings of action. Kory Haught pitched three scoreless innings of middle relief, fanning four OCU batters.

John Oliver went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs scored for the Gorillas. He was the only Pitt State player with multiple hits among the squad's 10-hit attack.

The Gorillas will return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 2) against Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
