HAYS, Kan.  — The Pittsburg State University softball team split a doubleheader from Fort Hays State University Monday (Mar. 18) at Tiger Stadium.
The Gorillas claimed a 1-0 victory in game one, before the Tigers countered with a 9-8 win in the nightcap.
Pitt State (14-13, 4-2 MIAA) scored the single run of the game in the fifth inning to take the opener against FHSU (10-9, 3-1 MIAA). Halle Brin held the Tigers scoreless to secure the victory and pitched her third complete game of the season. She walked one and registered four strikeouts.
In the nightcap, the Lions overcame an 8-6 deficit by scoring three runs in the seventh inning to take the final game.
Dru Collins led Pitt State's 11-hit offensive attack by going 3-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI. Kala Holder scored three runs for the Gorillas.
