HAYS, Kan. — Tatyana Legette scored a game-high 25 points to spark No. 3 ranked Fort Hays State University to a 67-62 victory over the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team Saturday (Mar. 2) at Gross Memorial Coliseum in the regular season finale for both teams.
Legette made 10 of 14 shots from the field, including two 3-pointers, as the Tigers finished the regular season with a 27-1 overall record and 18-1 mark in MIAA play. The Tigers clinched the 2019 MIAA regular season title last week.
Pitt State (21-7, 13-6 MIAA) got a team-leading 15 points from Maya Williams, while Sydnee Crain added 12 points. The Gorillas shot 44 percent from the field (25-56), but Pitt State was victimized by 19 turnovers in the contest.
The Gorillas will advance to the 2019 MIAA Postseason Tournament at Kansas City, Mo., next week. The tournament bracket will be announced later tonight
