EDMOND, Okla. -- Gabe Littlejim and three University of Central Oklahoma relievers combined to hold the Pittsburg State University baseball team scoreless in a 3-0 decision Saturday (Mar. 23) at Wendell Simmons Field.
Littlejim (4-3) scattered four hits and issued four walks in 6 2/3 innings of work, registering six strikeouts. Landon Bond, Junior Obeso and Josh Rutland combined to hold Pitt State (13-12, 7-7 MIAA) hitless over the final 2 1/3 innings. Rutland recorded the final three outs to earn his seventh save of the season for UCO (15-9, 8-6 MIAA).
The Bronchos plated two runs in the first inning to grab an early lead against Pitt State's Alex Achtermann (2-4). Achtermann pitched into the seventh inning allowing seven hits and two walks while registering six strikeouts. Kory Haught worked the final two innings for Pitt State.
Achtermann, Blain Ohlmeier, Greyson Pinett and Clint Allen had hits for the Gorillas.
Pitt State and UCO will complete their three-game MIAA series with a 1 p.m. (CDT) game Sunday.
