PITTSBURG — The University of Central Missouri baseball team scored a run in the top of the 10th inning to claim an 6-5 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Mar. 30) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Mules (19-9, 11-5 MIAA) scored the go-ahead run on a one-out RBI single from Erik Webb.Â
The Gorillas (13-14, 7-9 MIAA) struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. Pitt State added runs in the second and fifth frames.
Tyson Cushman and Alex Achtermann had two hits apiece for the Gorillas. Ty Herrenbeuck knocked in a pair of RBIs.
UCM's Coby Seiz (1-1) held Pitt State hitless over 3 innings of relief work to earn the victory. He registered four strikeouts. Connor Lungwitz (2-2) took the loss in relief for the Gorillas.
Pitt State and UCM will continue a three-game MIAA series with a 2:00 p.m. (CDT) game Sunday.
