JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University softball team swept a pair of games from the Lincoln University Saturday (Apr. 6). Gorillas defeated the Blue Tigers, 10-0 (5 innings) and 8-4.
In game one, starter Halle Brin (10-10) limited LU (4-34, 1-19 MIAA) to three hits in three innings of work. She collected four strikeouts and only gave up one walk.
Kala Holder led the Pitt State offense by going 3-for-3 at the plate with one home run, two doubles and five RBIs. Makenzie Goswick, Kaity Kukowski, and Brittanee Knepper record two hits apiece.
Shelby Smith scattered 12 hits over 7.0 innings of work in the nightcap for Pitt State (18-21, 6-8 MIAA). She walked two batters and registered two strikeouts.
Dru Collins went 2-for-3 with one run scored and four RBI's to pace the Gorillas offense. Kaity Kukowski and Madison Wegner both went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Pitt State will return to action Tuesday (Apr. 9) for an MIAA doubleheader against the University of Central Missouri in Pittsburg, Kan.
