KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Chaz Burgess delivered a one-out, bases loaded sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 3-2 non-conference win over Northwest Missouri State University Tuesday (Apr. 9) at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The Gorillas (18-16) drew three bases on balls in the deciding ninth inning before Burgess lifted his ball to center field to score Tyson Cushman with the go-ahead run.
Tanner Lane registered the final two outs for Pitt State to earn his fifth save of the season. Conner Lungwitz (3-2) recorded four outs to ean the victory.
Pitt State halted Northwest's six-game winning streak. The loss dropped to the Bearcats to 17-16 on the season.
