HAYS, Kan. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning and rode that early momenturm to a 12-3 victory over Fort Hays State University Saturday (May 4) at Larks Park.
The Gorillas (27-19, 19-13 MIAA) and Tigers (3-39, 2-30 MIAA) will wrap up the three-game series and regular season play with a Noon game Sunday.
Brad Kinsey (7-2) limited FHSU to one earned run and five hits in 5.0 innings of work. He issued one walk and fanned seven batters in the contest. Relievers Connor Lungwitz, Tyler McGrew and Tanner Lane worked the final four innings of relief for the Gorillas.
Tyson Cushman led Pitt State's 18-hit offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with a run scored, a double and two RBIs. Greyson Pinkett also went 3-for-6 with two RBIs.
