PITTSBURG -- Kaylee DaMitz flirted with a triple double and the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team rolled to an 81-69 victory over Newman University Thursday (Jan. 9) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
DaMitz scored a team-leading 15 points, dished out a game high 11 assists and grabbed eight rebounds to lead a balanced Pitt State offensive attack. Tristan Gegg added 14 points and Meghan Maher finished with 12. Sydnee Crain and Ashton McCorry added 10 points apiece for the Gorillas (8-5, 4-1 MIAA).
Pitt State shot 52.5 percent from the field making 32 of 61 shots. The Gorillas made 11 3-pointers in the contest and owned a 37-26 advantage in the rebounding department.
Newman (7-8, 2-4 MIAA) got a game high 22 points from Kaitlyn Potter.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday when the Gorillas host MIAA rival University of Central Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
