EDMOND, Okla. — Senior lefthander Tanner Lane limited Henderson State University to one run in five innings of work on the mound and the Pittsburg State University baseball team pounded out 10 hits in offensive support as the Gorillas claimed a 6-2 victory over the Reddies Saturday (Feb. 1) in the Edmond First Pitch Classic.
Lane (1-0) scattered four hits and one walk over five innings of work in his first start for the Gorillas after serving as the squad's closer in 2019. Colton Larkins, Peyton Ingalls and Dawson Pomeroy combined to limit HSU to three hits and one run over the final four innings to help seal the win.
Austin Bonnel went 3-for-3 in the game, while Blain Ohlmeier and Tyler Pittman each drove in two runs.
Pitt State (1-2) will close out action in the Edmond First Pitch Classic with a 10 a.m. game Sunday (Feb. 2) against Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
