CONROE, Texas — The Pittsburg State University softball team split a pair of games on day two action at the Arkansas Tech University Winter Inviatational Saturday (Feb. 1). The Gorillas dropped a 4-0 decision to Texas A&M University-Commerce before bouncing back with a 5-4 win over Texas A&M International University.
The Lions limited the Gorillas to just three hits in the day's first game, but Pitt State used an eight-hit attack in game two to rally for the one-run win against the Dust Devils. The Gorillas plated two runs in the bottom of the sixthi inning to overcome a 4-3 deficit. Keelah Griffith belted a two-run home run for the game-winning hit.
Griffith and Makenzie Goswick each had two hits in the contest and Kaity Kukowski also homered in the contest for the Gorillas.
Pitt State (2-2) will close out the three-day tournament with a 10 a.m. game against Angelo State University and a 12:30 p.m. game against Cameron University Sunday (Feb. 2).
