PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team claimed a 4-3 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston in the final game of a three-game series Sunday (Feb. 16) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Gorillas (4-6) grabbed a 2-1 lead early in the game and then tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth before settling for the 4-3 win.
Dawson Pomeroy recorded the final out for the save. Zach Curry (1-1) allowed just one run and two hits through five innings of work to earn the victory. Tyson Cushman drove in a pair of runs. He delivered RBI singles in both the first and third innings, plating Blain Ohlmeier in both at-bats.
Ohlmeier, who went 3-for-5 in the contest, added a run-scoring hit in the eighth inning.
