Griffons Pull Away For 94-76 Win Over Gorillas

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — The Missouri Western State University men's basketball team turned to a trio of standouts to pull away in the second half for a 94-76 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Feb. 20) at the MWSU Fieldhouse.
 
Tyree Martin, Tyrell Carroll and Tyus Millhollin combined for 66 points for MWSU (15-12, 11-5 MIAA) as the Griffons pulled away after the two teams were tied, 50-50, with 15:20 to play in the game.
 
Martin scored a game high 24 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field. He added a game high 11 rebounds as well to finish with a double double. Carroll and Millhollin added 21 points apiece.
 
Jah-Kobe Womack scored a team-leading 20 points for the Gorillas (9-16, 5-11 MIAA), including 16 points in the first half. A.J. Walker added nine points and eight rebounds, while Dejon Waters Jr. chipped in with eight points.
 
Western shot 59.4 percent from the field in the game (38-64) while holding Pitt State to 36.2 percent shooting on the night (25-69).
