MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team led throughout the first 20 minutes of play but the visiting Gorillas couldn't hold off No. 1 Northwest Missouri State University in the second half. The Bearcats outscored the Gorillas by 13 points down the stretch for a 73-64 victory.
 
Jah-Kobe Womack scored a team-leading 18 points in the loss for Pitt State (9-17, 5-12 MIAA). A.J. Walker added 16 points, Dejon Waters Jr. scored 11 and Antonio Givens II finished with nine.
 
Ryan Hawkins paced Northwest (26-1, 16-1 MIAA) with 25 points, while Trevor Hudgins (16) and Diego Bernard (16) also scored in double figures. Bernard posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
