OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Pittsburg State University softball team split a pair of high scoring games at the Edmond Regional Festival Saturday (Feb. 8). The Gorillas dropped a 10-9 decision in eight innings to Oklahoma Christian University before bouncing back with a 15-13 victory against Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
In the nightcap, Kaity Kukowski, Kylee Bohle and Makayla Lamphier all homered for the Gorillas. Kukowski and Lamphier each drove in four runs in the game.Lamphier went 2-for-3 with three runs scored,while Kukowski went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Madison Wegner also scored three times in the game.
In game one, Makenzie Goswick went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Wegner also homered in the game. Pitt State (3-5) took a 9-7 lead to the seventh inning but OCU scored twice to force extra innings and won it with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
The Gorillas will wrap up tournament action with a 10 a.m. game against Colorado Christian College and a 2 p.m. match-up against Cameron University Sunday (Feb. 9).
