PITTSBURG -- Jake Walker scored a game high 30 points to lead the University of Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team to an 85-75 road win over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Jan. 21) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
UNK (5-7, 5-7 MIAA) knocked down 12 3-point field goals as a team and shot 58.6 percent (34-58) from the field overall in the contest. Walker made12 of 23 shots, including six 3-pointers, to lead the way. Cedric Johnson (18), Myles Arnold (16) and Austin Luger (11) also scored in double figures for the Lopers.
Pitt State (5-7, 5-7 MIAA) got a team-leading 16 points from Quentin Hardrict Jr. and 14 from Ryan Pippins. R.J. Lawrence chipping in with 9 and Cameron Huefner added eight points. The Gorillas shot 41.2 percent (28-68) from the floor overall.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 23) when the Gorillas entertain MIAA rival Fort Hays State University at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
