TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Kaylee DaMitz scored a game high 25 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 65-50 road win over Northeastern State University Thursday (Jan. 28) at Dobbins Fieldhouse.
The Gorillas (9-5, 9-5 MIAA) led 31-29 at halftime against the RiverHawks (4-9, 4-9 MIAA), but Pitt State stretched its margin by outscoring NSU, 22-15, in the pivotal third quarter.
DaMitz converted 10 of 17 shots from the floor as the Gorillas shot 50.9 percent from the field overall (28-55). Julia Johnson added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Sydnee Crain also chipped in with eight points.
NSU got a team-leading 19 points and 13 rebounds from Zaria Collins.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 30) when the Gorillas travel to Claremore, Okla., to face MIAA rival Rogers State University at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at the Claremore Expo Center.
