PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University volleyball team prepares for a busy week ahead with three matches on the schedule beginning Tuesday (Oct. 11).
The Gorillas will play host to Missouri Southern State University Tuesday at 6 p.m. at John Lance Arena, before Pitt State hits the road for matches at No. 14 University of Nebraska-Kearney Friday (Oct. 15) and Fort Hays State University Saturday (Oct. 16). The UNK match has a 6 p.m. start time, while the FHSU match will begin at 2 p.m.
Scouting the Gorillas
- The Gorillas enter the match-up against the Lady Lions with a 10-6 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the MIAA. Pitt State sits fifth in the MIAA standings.
- Junior outside hitter Meg Auten ranks 5th in the MIAA in kills with 190 in 56 sets on the season.
- Junior setter Brianna Richard sits at No. 3 in assists with 565 on the season.
Scouting the Lady Lions
- Missouri Southern comes to Pittsburg with a 3-14 overall record and an 0-7 slate in MIAA play.
- Senior outside hitter CC Pollard is 12th in the league in points with a total of 129. Pollard has tallied 116 kills on the season.
Scouting the Lopers
- The Lopers currently rank No. 14 in the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll with a 13-4 record (4-4 MIAA). Kearney is currently positioned sixth in the MIAA standings.
- Graduate setter Madison Squiers leads the MIAA in assists with 646 in 56 sets on the season.
Scouting the Tigers
- The Tigers enter the week with an 8-9 overall record and a 2-6 record in the MIAA. Fort Hays sits 8th in MIAA standings.
- The Gorillas look to continue a five-match winning streak over the Tigers dating back to Nov. 4, 2017.
