PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University volleyball team returns to the friendly confines of John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court for a pair of weekend matches against Northwest Missouri State University and Missouri Western State University.
The Gorillas will battle the sixth-ranked Bearcats Friday (Oct. 22) at 6 p.m. (CDT) before taking on the Griffons Saturday (Oct. 23) at 2 p.m.
Scouting the Gorillas
- The Gorillas enter the weekend action with an 11-9 overall record and a 5-7 mark in MIAA play. Pitt State dropped a 3-1 decision in its most recent action Tuesday (Oct. 19) at Edmond, Okla.
- Pitt State junior Meg Auten has moved up to 5th in the MIAA in kills with 237 in 69 sets this season.
- Junior middle hitter Hope White ranks in the top 20 in points with 198.5 in 66 sets for the Gorillas.
Scouting the Bearcats
- NWMSU is 16-2 overall and 9-1 in the MIAA. The Bearcats have won nine straight matches, including a 3-0 sweep of Emporia State University the last time out on Oct. 16.
- Northwest ranks in the top three as a team in six MIAA categories.
Scouting the Griffons
- MWSU is 12-9 overall and 4-8 in MIAA play heading into a Friday road match against Missouri Southern.
- Senior Ali Tauchen ranks in the top 20 in the MIAA in hitting percentage and kills for the Griffons.
