PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will travel to Wichita, Kan., Tuesday (Oct. 26) for an MIAA match against Newman University. First serve is set for 6 p.m. at Fugate Gym.
The Gorillas are 10-10 overall and 5-8 in MIAA play heading into the match. Pitt State split a pair of home matches last weekend, dropping a 3-1 decision to sixth-ranked Northwest Missouri State University Friday (Oct. 22) before bouncing back with a 3-2 win against Missouri Western State University Saturday (Oct. 23).
Newman is 8-12 overall and 4-10 in league play. The Jets dropped road matches against Fort Hays State University (3-1) and the University of Nebraska-Kearney (3-0) last weekend.
Pitt State and Newman met at John Lance Arena on Sept. 28 with the Gorillas prevailing, 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-19).
Hope White posted a match high 10 kills in the contest as the Gorillas hit .316 as a team in the contest. Brianna Richard added 33 assists in the match and Marissa Bates posted 18 digs.
Following Tuesday's action, Pitt State will return home to host the University of Central Missouri Saturday (Oct. 30) at 6 p.m.
