Gorillas Set to Wrap Up Regular Season Action

PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will wrap up its regular season schedule by hosting a pair of matches this weekend.
 
The Gorillas will battle Fort Hays State Friday at 6 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court and then face No. 12 ranked Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Pitt State enters the weekend action with a 14-12 overall record and an 8-10 mark in MIAA play. The Gorillas have clinched a berth into the 2021 MIAA Postseason Tournament. Pitt State split a pair of matches in its most recent action last week, falling to No. 2 ranked Washburn, 3-0, and defeating Emporia State, 3-0.
 
Fort Hays State is 12-15 overall and 6-12 in the MIAA. The Tigers defeated the Gorillas, 3-0, in the first meeting of the season on Oct. 16 at Hays.
 
UNK is 22-5 overall, 13-5 in the MIAA and ranked No. 12 in the most recent AVCA Division II Top 25 poll. The Lopers will face Missouri Southern in a match at Joplin, Mo., Friday before coming to Pittsburg for Saturday's regular season finale.
 
Saturday's match will be Senior Day for Pitt State. The Gorillas will honor their four outgoing seniors – Emily Hanenberg, Kayla Neigenfind, Claire Sandvig and Hope White – during pregame ceremonies prior to first serve.
