Weatherford, Okla. – The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team lost in its second game at the MIAA/GAC Conference Challenge to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, 79-54.
The Gorillas would find themselves behind early in the first quarter due to Bulldog sharpshooting from beyond the arc 15-7. In the second quarter of play the Bulldogs would extend the lead to 19 before the half, 42-23.
The Gorillas would come out of half with a few free throws to cut the Bulldog lead to 15. Southwestern would answer with a a quick six points to go up 51-34 with five minutes left in the third. The Bulldogs would hold onto the 20 point lead until the end of the game.
Pitt State would end the night shooting 38.7% (19-49) from the field and 30.4% (7-23) from deep. Tristan Gegg would have another career night with 23 points and six steals for the Gorillas. Jayme Jackson would finish with 12 points and seven boards.
The Gorillas will return to Pittsburg for its first home action of the season with a matchup against Saint Mary (Kan.) on Thursday (Nov. 18).
