Gorillas to Face Ichabods in MIAA Tournament Tuesday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will travel to Topeka to face Washburn University in the first round of the 2021 MIAA Tournament Tuesday (Nov. 16).
 
The Gorillas and Ichabods will take the floor at Lee Arena at 6 p.m. (CST).
 
Pitt State earned the No. 6 seed in the eight-team tournament after a 15-13 regular season. The Gorillas posted a 9-11 mark in MIAA action. Washburn earned the No. 3 seed after compiling a 25-4 record (17-3 MIAA).
 
The two squads will meet for the third time Tuesday. The Ichabods swept the regular season action with a 3-0 win at Topeka on Oct. 9 and a 3-1 victory in Pittsburg on Nov. 5.
 
The Gorillas are making their seventh overall trip to the MIAA Tournament. Pitt State has qualified for the post-season tournament in 1992, 2003-06 and 2019. The Gorillas are 3-6 overall in nine all-time MIAA Tournament matches.
