PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will host a pair of in-state rivals this weekend. The Gorillas will face Washburn University Friday (Nov. 5) and Emporia State University Saturday (Nov. 6).

The Gorillas are 13-11 overall and 7-9 in MIAA play heading into the weekend action. Pitt State split a pair of matches last week, defeating Newman (3-0) at Wichita on Oct. 26 and falling to Central Missouri (3-0) on Oct. 30.
Washburn is 22-3 overall and 14-2 in league play. The Ichabods, the No. 3 ranked team in NCAA Division II, have won three straight matches. WU defeated Pitt State, 3-0, in the first meeting of the season on Oct. 9 at Topeka.
Emporia State is 4-19 overall and 2-14 in MIAA play heading into a Friday road match against Missouri Southern. The Gorillas claimed a 3-0 victory over the Lady Hornets in the first meeting this year on Oct. 8 at Emporia.

Junior setter Brianna Richard (Ames, Iowa) enters Friday's action needing two assists to reach 2,000 career assists.
Following the weekend action, Pitt State will close out regular season play with a pair of home matches next weekend against Fort Hays State and No. 15 Nebraska-Kearney.
