Pitt State Women Roll to 88-60 Victory Over Lincoln


PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team started quick out of the blocks and sprinted to an 88-60 victory over Lincoln University Wednesday (Dec. 15) in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The Gorillas (8-2, 3-1 MIAA) scored 28 first-quarter points to build a 10-point lead after one quarter of play against the Blue Tigers (4-6, 0-4 MIAA). Pitt State extended its margin to 50-27 at the break and the Gorillas never looked back.

Grace Pyle came off the bench to score a game high 16 points to pace the Gorillas, who shot 52.5 percent from the floor (31-59) in the game. Erin Davis added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Karenna Gerber also chipped in with 13 points. Jenna Shipley and Emma Martin added season high scoring totals of eight and seven points, respectively.

Lincoln got 16 points from Hya Haywood, 14 points from Imani Jones and 12 points from A.J. Bradley.

Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Dec. 18) when the Gorillas host MIAA rival Univerity of Central Missouri at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
