MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Trevor Hudgins scored a game high 30 points to help lead No. 3 ranked Northwest Missouri State University to an 87-75 victory over the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team Thursday (Feb. 11) at Bearcat Arena.
The Gorillas (10-8, 10- MIAA) trailed the MIAA leading Bearcats (16-1, 16-1 MIAA) by just three points, 50-47, with 17:29 to play in the game but Northwest scored the game's next eight points and outscored Pitt State, 19-7, over the next seven minutes to take control.
Ethan Holloway scored a career high 21 points on nine of 11 shooting from the floor to lead the Gorillas. Ryan Pippins added 11 points and Martin Vogts finished with 10. The Gorillas, who shot 58 percent from the field for the game, played shorthanded with starting frontcourt members Bobby Arthur-Williams Jr. and Zach Burch out of the lineup for the game.
Ryan Hawkins (22) and Diego Bernard (12) also scored in double figures for Northwest.
Pitt State will travel to St. Joseph, Mo., Saturday (Feb. 13) to face MIAA rival Missouri Western State University at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
