JOPLIN, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team dropped a 93-74 road decision to Missouri Southern State University Saturday (Feb. 20) at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
The Lions (12-8, 12-8 MIAA) hit 16 3-point field goals and shot 52.2 percent (35-67)Â from the field in the game. MSSUÂ built a 55-34 lead at the break against the Gorillas (10-10, 10-10 MIAA) and never looked back. The Lions stretched the margin to as many as 31 points in the second half.
R.J. Lawrence scored a team-high 14 points for the Gorillas while Martin Vogts chipped in with 13 points.
Cam Martin scored a game high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace MSSU, while Winston Dessesow added 21 points.
Pitt State will return to action next Thursday (Feb. 25) when the Gorillas play host to MIAA rival Emporia State University at 7:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court as the Gorillas roll into the final week of the regular season.
