PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team fought off an upset bid by Newman University in the game's final minutes and the Gorillas defeated the Jets, 69-61, at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court Saturday (Feb. 27).
Kaylee DaMitz scored a game high 25 points in the regular season finale and became the 24th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points. Maya WIlliams added 10 points in her final home game, while Tristan Gegg added 12 points and five rebounds.
Pitt State ends the regular season with a 14-8 record and will advance to the MIAA Postseaon Tournament next week. Newman ends its season with a 4-18 record.
