Box Score PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State university volleyball team opened its MIAA season with an emphatic win over Central Oklahoma in strait sets, 3-0.
The Gorillas got off to a hot start early after taking set one 27-25. Pitt State carried the momentum into the second set with a 25-23 set victory. After falling behind 14-9 in the third set the Gorillas rallied to tie the game up at 14. The Gorillas continued on to take the third set 27-25.
Junior outside hitter Meg Auten led the Gorillas with 14 kills and 10 digs on the night. The Gorillas setter junior Bri Richard tallied 42 assists for Pitt State. Richard also had 14 digs in the match.
The Gorillas next action comes on Saturday Sept. 17, when it heads to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern State University. First serve is set for 3 p.m. (CDT).
