UNK Claims 88-79 Victory Over Pitt State

KEARNEY, Neb. — David Simental scored a game high 30 points to lead the University of Nebraska-Kearney to an 88-79 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Jan. 20) at the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers shot 60.4 percent from the field in the contest, converting 29 of 48 shots. UNK knocked down 15 of 21 3-point field goal attempts (.714) and also made 15 of 18 free throw attempts (.833). Darrian Nebeker added 14 points, while Winston Cook (13), Tom Connelly (12) and S Evans (10) also finished in double figures. Simental made five of seven 3-pointers in the game.

Pitt State (4-13, 3-8 MIAA) got 22 points from Ryan Pippins and 21 points from Bobby Arthur-Williams Jr. Pippins matched his career high scoring total after also putting up 22 points against Washburn last Saturday. Tyler Hawkins chipped in with 15 points.

The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Jan. 22) when they travel to Hays, Kan., to face Fort Hays State University at 4 p.m. at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
