MARYVILLE, Mo. — Trevor Hudgins and Diego Bernard scored 18 points apiece to lead the Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team to a 74-64 victory over Pittsburg State University Monday (Jan. 3) at Bearcat Arena.
The Bearcats (13-1, 6-0 MIAA) led by just two points, 31-29, at halftime against the Gorillas (4-10, 2-5 MIAA). but NWMSU used a 19-1 second half run to take control of the contest. The Bearcats stretched their margin to 26 points, 71-45, with 5:19 to play before Pitt State outscored NWMSU, 19-3, down the stretch for the game's final 10-point margin.
Tyler Hawkins and Quentin Hardrict Jr. paced the Gorillas with 10 points apiece, while Iziah James and Bobby Arthur-Williams Jr. chipped in with seven points each.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 8) when the Gorillas travel to Joplin, Mo., to face Missouri Southern State University at 3:30 p.m. at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
