INDIANAPOLIS — The Pittsburg State University football team debuted at No. 2 in the first set of codified NCAA Division II Regional Rankings released Monday (Oct. 31).

The Gorillas (9-0) are one of four remaining undefeated teams in Super Region Three, which is comprised of the MIAA, Great American Conference (GAC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

Pitt State was included among a list of 10 unranked teams in SR-3 "under consideration" a week ago.

Unbeaten Grand Valley State (8-0, GLIAC) drew the No. 1 ranking in SR-3 today, followed by Pitt State (9-0, MIAA), Ferris State (6-1, GLIAC), Ouachita Baptist (9-0, GAC), Davenport (7-0, GLIAC), Truman (7-1, GLVC), UIndy (6-1, GLVC), Harding (7-2, GAC), Emporia State (7-2, MIAA) and Northwest Missouri (7-2, MIAA).

Following the completion of regular season play on Nov. 12, the top seven teams in Super Region Three will qualify for the 28-team NCAA Division II national playoffs beginning Saturday, Nov. 19. The No. 1 seed will earn a bye in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 19, while seeds two through four will host first-round games on campus sites.

Pitt State will travel to Topeka this Saturday (Nov. 5) to face MIAA rival Washburn at 1 p.m. (CDT) at Yager Stadium.
