PITTSBURG — Karenna Gerber continued her torrid shooting pace and the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team opened MIAA play with a 78-54 victory over Lincoln University Monday (Nov. 28) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Gerber made seven of 11 shots from the floor to pace a Pitt State team that shot 57.4 percent (31-54) from the field for the game.
Gerber, who paced the Gorillas (5-1 1-0 MIAA) with 23 points and 10 rebounds the last time out on Nov. 23, finished with a team-leading 17 points Monday.
Tristan Gegg added 16 points, while Grace Pyle chipped in with 12. Jenna Shipley finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Harper Schreiner added a double-double with 10 points, a game high 10 rebounds and three assists.
Le'Yanna McGinnis led all scorers with 23 points for the Blue Tigers (1-4, 0-1 MIAA).
Pitt State will return to action Thursday (Dec. 1) by hosting Missouri Western at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
