Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mules Win Back & Forth Affair, 64-62

PITTSBURG — Jack Chapman's put-back with 1.0 seconds remaining in regulation lifted the University of Central Missouri men's basketball team to a 64-62 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Dec. 17) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

UCM (6-5, 2-3 MIAA) overcame a 17-point deficit early in the game to battle back against Pitt State (4-7, 2-4 MIAA). The Mules countered by pushing in front of the Gorillas by five points, 57-52, with 4:42 to play in the game before Pitt State scored six of the next seven points to set up a back and forth contest in the game's final three minutes.

Quentin Hardrict Jr., who paced the Gorillas with 16 points, hit a turnaround jumper in the paint to tie the game at 62-60 with 13.9 seconds to play.

The Mules Kobe Campbell drove to the basket and released a guarded jumper with under three ticks remaining and Chapman snared the loose ball and put in the game winning basket.

Deshaun English II and Magic Reliford finished the contest with 10 points apiece to go along with Hardrict's scoring total. English added eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Mikel Henderson led the Mules with 14 points, while Campbell and Chapman added 12 apiece.

The Gorillas will return to action after the Christmas break by hosting Avila University on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. (CST).
