Topeka – The Pittsburg State University softball team finished up play at the Washburn Invitational with a 9-1 victory over the University of Minnesota-Crookston, Monday (Feb. 28).
 
The Gorillas would start the game off hot at the plate jumping out to an early 4-1 lead after the fourth inning. Pitt State would continue to dominate with a five run fifth inning to take a 9-1 run-rule victory.
 
Second baseman Taylor Lambert would tally two hits and an RBI for the Gorillas. Right fielder Josi Solani drove in two RBIs in one at bat on the day. Abby Atkins would go a complete game inside the circle allowing four hits and one earned run.
 
Pitt State returns to action Thursday (Mar. 3) in Winter Haven, Fla. to take part in the Spring Games. The Gorillas start the action against Assumption University.
