Hot Shooting Lincoln Hands Pitt State 98-87 Setback


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Lincoln University men's basketball team made 16 3-point field goals and the Blue Tigers shot 56.4 percent from the field for the game to secure a 98-87 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Feb. 5) at Jason Gymnasium.

The Blue Tigers (2-16, 1-12) snapped a 12-game losing streak by hitting 16 of 27 long-range shots in the contest. Mekhi Kimble and Derrick Woods were both a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range in the contest. Kimble paced LU with 17 points, while Woods added 16. Ni'Sean Rigmaiden finished with 13 points and eight assists.

The Gorillas (5-16, 4-11 MIAA) got 22 points apiece from Cameron Huefner and Quentin Hardrict Jr. Zach Burch added 13 points and six rebounds. Pitt State shot 48.4 percent from the field (30-62) to try to keep pace with the Blue Tigers, but LU made nine more treys than the Gorillas in the game to hold them off.

Pitt State will return to action Monday at Warrensburg, Mo., when the Gorillas face the University of Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
