PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team dropped a pair of games to the University of Nebraska Kearney, 5-2, 15-8.
The Gorillas struggled in game one at the plate only notched six hits in the outing. The Lopers would come out to a hot start taking an early 3-1 lead. The Lopers would score two more runs in the 6th to give the game a final score of 5-1.
In game one Paxtyn Hayes would go two for four with two RBIs. Hannah Harrison was credited with the loss moving her season record to 11-4.
In game two Kearney would jump out to an early 4-0 lead in the first. The Gorillas would bounce back in the second scoring four runs off the bats of Sophia Driver and Hayes. The Lopers would answer back with two runs in the top of the third to take a 6-4 lead. After a few runs by both teams in the fifth the Lopers would take a 10-8 lead into the sixth. After five more runs the Lopers would take the game 15-8.
Hayes would go three for five with three RBIs in game two. Keelah Griffith would go three for four adding two RBIs. Abby Atkins would go five innings allowing nine hits and 10 runs.
