Gorillas Fall to Lions, 84-63, Monday

Box Score JOPLIN, Mo. — Winston Dessesow led a balanced offensive attack for the Missouri Southern State University men's basketball team as the Lions defeated Pittsburg State University, 84-63, Monday (Jan. 2) at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

MSSU (8-4, 4-2 MIAA) shot 52.3 percent from the field in the contest, while the Gorillas (5-8, 2-5 MIAA) made just 39.1 percent of their shots from the floor.

Dessesow led all scorers with 18 points, while pacing five Lions in double figures. Christian Bundy (16), Sam Thompson (14), Vinson Sigmon Jr. (13) and Avery Taggart (11) also reached double digits in the contest.

Magic Reliford scored a team-leading 15 points for the Gorillas, while Jeramy Shaw added a season high 14 points and Quentin Hardrict Jr. finished with 11.

The Gorillas will return to action Thursday (Jan. 5) by traveling to Kearney, Neb., to battle the University of Nebraska-Kearney at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
