TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State University men's basketball team outscored Pittsburg State University, 20-5, over the final 5:47 to pull away for an 80-67 victory Saturday (Jan. 21) at Dobbins Field House.

The Gorillas (5-14, 2-11 MIAA) led 62-60 on Deshaun English II's layup, but the RiverHawks (10-7, 7-6 MIAA) scored the game's next 10 points and pulled away down the stretch to take the hard-fought win.

English posted his eighth double-double of the season to lead the Gorillas, finishing the contest with 18 points and a game high 13 rebounds. Albert McBride added 17 points and Quentin Hardrict Jr. chipped in with 13 points and a game high seven assists.

NSU, which shot 51.7 percent from the field in the game (30-58), got a game-best 23 points from Christian Cook and 21 more from Dillon Bailey.

The Gorillas will return home to John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court Thursday (Jan. 26) to face No. 4 ranked University of Central Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
