PITTSBURG -- Grace Pyle led a balanced Pittsburg State University offensive attack as the Gorillas held off a determined Fort Hays State University squad for a 76-66 victory Thursday (Feb. 16) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Pitt State (20-5, 15-4 MIAA) hit the 20-win mark with the victory over the Lady Tigers (19-9, 14-6 MIAA), insuring the program's 12th all-time 20-win season.
Pyle paced the Gorillas with 17 points, while Tristan Gegg (16), Jenna Shipley (13) and Harper Schreiner (10) also scored in double figures. The Gorillas outscored FHSU, 20-9, at the free throw line.
Katie Wagner led all scorers with 30 points for the Lady Tigers. She also posted a game high 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Jessie Sallach added 10 points for FHSU.
Pitt State will close out a three-game home stand by hosting No. 10 University of Nebraska-Kearney Saturday (Feb. 18) for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. (CST).
