PITTSBURG -- The Missouri University of Science & Technology baseball team capitalized on a five-run third inning and a four-run ninth frame to claim a 13-7 victory over Pittsburg State University Wednesday (Mar. 29) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Miners (11-14) never trailed in the contest. The Gorillas (21-9) battled back from a 6-1 deficit to trim the margin 9-7 after plating three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but MST reliever J Cook struck out Pitt State's Nixon Brannan with two runners on base to end the inning.
Joe Hamilton and Daegan Brady each collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Gorillas. Connor Laux also also had two hits.
Parker Tennill (2-2) took the loss on the mound for the Gorillas.Â
Pitt State will travel to Edmond, Okla., to open a three-game MIAA series against Central Oklahoma Friday (Mar. 31).
