EDMOND, Okla. — Cade Clemons smacked back-to-back home runs, including a three-run blast in the third inning to help spark the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 9-5 victory over the University of Central Oklahoma Sunday (Apr. 2) at Wendell Simmons Field.
The victory helped the Gorillas (23-10, 15-5 MIAA) take two of three games in the conference series against the Bronchos (22-11, 11-9 MIAA).
Ben Des Rosiers (5-0) overcame six walks by limiting UCO to three runs over 5.2 innings pitched to remain unbeaten on the season. Parker Weddle, the final of three Pitt State relievers, recorded the final five outs with four strikeouts for his third save of the year.
Clemons went 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBI, while Connor Allen went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
The Gorillas will travel to Ozark, Mo., Tuesday (Apr. 4) for a non-conference match-up against Drury University at U.S. Baseball Park.
