TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Quarterback Chad Dodson Jr. completed 20 of 23 passes for 197 yards and two touchdown to lead No. 3 Pittsburg State University to a 42-7 victory over Northeastern State University Saturday (Sept. 30).
The Gorillas (5-0, 5-0 MIAA) led 14-0 at halftime and eventually pulled away in the second half with a 21-point fourth quarter.
Dodson tossed an eight-yard first quarter touchdown pass to tight end Steele Roring and added a 30-yard scoring connection to wide receiver Kuron Parchmon with 14:53 to play in the game.
Running backs Antwan Squire, Noah Hernandez and Eric Virgil all found the end zone and safety Jordan Rogers returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown.
The Pitt State defense limited the RiverHawks (0-5, 0-5 MIAA) to 155 total yards in the game, including just 42 passing yards. Safety Michael Lacey and cornerback Aabiyas Wakes also had interceptions in the contest. Safety Carson Otworth and linebacker Jack Barkley paced the Gorillas with five tackles apiece.
