Carly Clennan posted a career high in kills and
Ivy Fink reached a milestone kill total in leading the Pittsburg State University volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over the University of Central Missouri Friday (Oct. 11) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The Gorillas (8-8, 3-3 MIAA) bested the visiting Jennies (6-9, 2-4 MIAA) 28-26, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18.
Clennan paced three Pitt State players in double figures with her personal-best 12 kills. Fink added 11 kills, reaching the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career on the next-to-lost point of the night.
Maliyah Johnson also chipped in with 10 kills.
Clennan hit a robust .647 on the night with 12 kills on 17 attacks while committing just one error. She totaled 14.0 points by adding four block assists in the match. Fink contributed a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, while
Josie McCroskey added a team-leading 17 digs.
The Gorillas outhit the Jennies, .328 to .176, in the match. Pitt State racked up 52 kills with just 11 errors, while UCM committed 32 attack errors.
The Gorillas will return to action for a 2 p.m. (CDT) home match-up against Missouri Southern State University Saturday (Oct. 12).
