Pitt State Squads to Open Indoor Seasons at Home Friday, Saturday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will open their 2024-25 seasons by hosting the Boo Rogers Combined Events Friday (Dec. 6) and the Crimson & Gold Invitational Saturday (Dec. 7) at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

The Boo Rogers Combined Events will start at 1 p.m. (CST) Friday. The women's pentathlon action will wrap up shortly after 6:30 p.m. with the running of the 800 meters. The men will compete in four of seven events in the heptathlon Friday, then return Saturday starting at 9 a.m. to wrap up their competition.

The Crimson & Gold Invitational begins at 11:30 a.m. (CST) Saturday. The men's and women's 5,000 meters competition will be held Friday starting at 7 p.m.
 
Admission will be charged Saturday only. Cost is $5. Children 12 & under are free as are PSU students with I.D.

Thirty-five teams, including MIAA rivals Central Missouri, Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern and Rogers State, and more than 1,000 athletes will compete in Pittsburg this weekend.

Both the Pitt State women and men captured 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships. The Gorillas men also captured the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship while the women finished as the national runner-up a year ago.
