PITTSBURG — Deshaun English II recorded his ninth double-double of the season to help lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 69-60 victory over the University of Central Missouri Wednesday (Feb. 7).
The Gorillas (14-8, 10-6 MIAA) posted their fifth straight win in displatching the Mules (10-11, 5-10 MIAA).
English filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and six blocked shots in the contest. He became just the second player in school history to record six blocked shots in the game (Jamey Richardson, 2003).
Max Alexander paced Pitt State with a team-leading 17 points. Jordan Frison and Jeramy Shaw also scored 14 apiece.
The Gorillas limited the Mules to 34.4 percent shooting from the floor (21-61). UCM's Keith Kiner III led all scorers with 21 points in the contest.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Feb. 10) to host Lincoln University at 3:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
