PSU Baseball to Honor 1999 MIAA Champion Squad Apr. 26

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball program will honor the Gorillas 1999 MIAA Champion squad as part of weekend activities with the Fort Hays State University series.

The reunion and celebration will take place Friday and Saturday, Apr. 26-27, during Pitt State's home series against the MIAA rival Tigers. Additional alumni representing various Pitt State teams are expected to return to campus for the weekend as well.

The 1999 Gorillas posted a 36-14 record under former head coach Steve Bever, claiming the program's first ever MIAA Tournament Championship. The Gorillas made their third straight appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament that season. Pitt State reached the championship game of the 1999 NCAA Central Regional before falling to Rockhurst University a game away from advancing to the D2 College World Series.
