Gorillas to Conduct Spring Game Friday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University football team will wrap up spring drills by hosting its 2024 Spring Game Friday (Apr. 26) at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium.

Pitt State players will begin the Gorilla Walk from the Robert W. Plaster Center to the stadium at 6:30 p.m. (CDT). The Offense vs. Defense format scrimmage will follow shortly after 7 p.m.

The Plaster Center will serve as a back-up location if inclement weather prohibits play at Carnie Smith Stadium.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN 100.7 FM and web streamed through the KSHQ app or listening to the live link at espn1007.com. The "Voice of the Gorillas" Eddie Lomshek will call the action along with Mike Snow and Sam Reeves.

The Gorillas are concluding their initial spring under first-year head coach Tom Anthony, who also served as Pitt State's defensive coordinator from 2020-21 and associate head coach/defensive coordinator in 2022.

Pitt State enters the 2024 season with high aspirations once again following an 11-2 season a year ago. The Gorillas claimed their second straight MIAA Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II national playoffs. Pitt State was ranked No. 5 in the final 2023 AFCA NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.
